Healthy Breakfast Pairings With Cide>>Road
What should I eat for breakfast today?
As the saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But we get it; you’re busy. That’s why we’ve prepared two breakfast options, from smoothies to scrambled eggs that you can pair and enjoy with one of our fantastic flavors of CideRoad Organic Switchel.
CideRoad Power Smoothie
We love starting our day off with a power smoothie for a boost of energy. For extra flavor in your favorite smoothie, replace the liquids with one of our CideRoad Organic Switchel flavors. Our favorite smoothie happens to pack a punch with kale and sweet pineapple. It perfectly compliments our Cherry-flavored CideRoad.
1 cup kale
½ cup frozen blueberries
½ cup frozen pineapple
3 oz. vanilla nonfat Greek yogurt
¾ cup Cherry-flavored CideRoad Organic Switchel
Place all the ingredients in a blender, mix until smooth. Enjoy!
Scrambled Eggs with Sumac, Pine Nuts and Parsley
Feeling savory? Try scrambled eggs from J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, which uses Middle Eastern spices and pine nuts for a fresh take on a classic breakfast dish. Pair this with our Original CideRoad Organic Switchel, or your favorite flavor.
6 large eggs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil plus more for serving
1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted
1 teaspoon ground sumac**
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Flatbread such as pita or lavash, warm
Gently beat eggs with a big pinch of salt and some pepper in a medium bowl with a fork. Heat oil in a medium non-stick or cast iron skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add eggs and cook, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, until barely set and still slightly runny (eggs will continue to cook after removing from pan), about 1 minute. Immediately transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle with pine nuts, sumac, and parsley. Drizzle with olive oil and serve immediately with flatbread.
**Sumac are red berries, native to the Middle East, with a pronounced lemony flavor. They can be substituted with your favorite spices, or replaced with lemon zest.
